Bathroom – tall, slim and compact should be the main characteristics of a storage cabinet that is to be used in the bathroom.  As space is usually limited in the bathroom, the most appropriate cabinets should be the ones built to fit into small places.  Preferably made from plastic due to its waterproof and easy cleaning qualities, most plastic bathroom cabinets are stackable and therefore can be added to or reduced from at any time, allowing increased storage space when necessary.

Bedrooms – not overly popular for the bedroom due to most people having standard wardrobes, chests of drawers and bedside cabinets to store their belongings in, many modern bedroom furniture sets are adding a storage cabinet to their range.  Available in many different sizes, their aim is to store all of the items that do not generally warrant being in a wardrobe or chest of drawers, so hanging rails or small, individual shelves are not included and generally only comprise of either several standard sized drawers, or shelves that fill the whole width of the cabinet.

Kitchens – within kitchens in older homes, a lot of people have a larder to store any non-fresh food items.  As a lot of modern houses do not have these facilities but are required, spacious, larder-like storage cabinets are regularly being purchased.  Tall – often to the ceiling – and wide, they are designed to fit in with most standard kitchen designs and offer a fantastic place to store a variety of different items, both food and utensils alike.

Attics – the attic, in any home, can often be one of the most unused spaces in the whole house and any items placed in the attic can soon take up a vast amount of space if not stored correctly.  Low level storage is generally the most practical and widely available, whilst for storing clothes – to avoid becoming dusty or moth ridden – sealed storage cabinets are available, with individual sealed drawers inside.

Garage – once only available in professional garages, the prominent red storage cabinets that are widely liked are now available to all of the general public.   With dozens of different drawers and cupboards for many different tools and accessories, they make for a great piece of furniture to ensure a fantastic clutter free garage.

Available in many different materials, the choice depends upon the individual person’s requirements and preferences.  Wicker is a popular choice due to its classy yet slightly bohemian look and although metal cabinets are available, they are not massively favorable due to their proneness to rusting.  Plastic storage cabinets are without doubt the most practical, as they can be washed down easily and are not affected by water that is spilt or splashed upon them.

Many bathroom storage units are sold as a stackable storage facility.  These are ideal for people with limited space as more sections can be added if need be, or conversely can reduce the amount of sections to free up more open space in the bathroom.

The great point about storage cabinets for bathrooms is that most have individual drawers, allowing everyone in the family to have their own drawer which they can be responsible for.  These types of cabinets ensure that a bathroom remains as clutter-free as possible.

If space in the bathroom is at a complete minimum, there are two storage options available.  The first is to purchase and install a storage cabinet onto one of the bathroom walls.  These are very popular as they require no floor space and are available in a large variety of designs, fitting in with all types of bathroom suites.  The second option is to transform an item in the bathroom already into a type of storage unit.  It is possible to carry out this process with many different items, but the most popular is turning an old or unused airing cupboard into an effective storage unit that can accommodate massive amounts of items.  Although they may seem small as an actual airing cupboard, when renovated, they can house a variety of shelves and cupboards, making them extremely useful, especially in smaller bathrooms.

One of the more popular plastic storage’s that are available are the under bed storage cabinets, as they are a fantastic way to de-clutter a bedroom.  Generally situated on four wheels – making them extremely versatile and easily moveable – they can vary in size quite considerably to fit comfortable under any sized bed.

This type of storage, as it is for use under a bed, is generally low and cannot accommodate larger items.  With this in mind, they are ideal for media items such as CDs and DVDs, or for storing clothes and bed linen that are not currently in season, such as winter duvets during the summer months.

Children’s toy boxes are one of the more common types of plastic storage and some of most popular types are the stackable cabinet varieties.  Each drawer of the cabinet is generally deep – over 12 inches – and can be left on the floor for the child to tidy their toys away.  Once the tidying has been complete, an adult can then stack the storage box onto other similar sized ones, creating a contemporary children’s toy cabinet.

Plastic storage cabinets for a bathroom are where these cabinets are really put to their full and proper use.  As they are made from a durable and tough plastic, they can be wiped down and cleaned extremely easy, making the process very quick and simple.    Furthermore, as they will not rust or be affected by regular water or dampness, they are ideal units for a wet room, where it is often difficult to find the most appropriate type of storage.  In addition, plastic storage units for the bathroom are often designed to take up as little space as possible and are built slim but high, regularly standing six or seven drawers high – perfect for the large family as everyone can have their own drawer in the bathroom.

Similar to bathroom storage, kitchen storage units that are made from a plastic material are very useful for storing a variety of items.  Wider than bathroom storage but not as tall, they generally accommodate four individual drawers, each of which has an open, crossed bottom panel to allow for air to circulate properly.  This is ideal as the cabinets are designed to store fresh fruit and vegetables.
